new panel on the labeler, first 5069 we've had. 5069 l306er with two IB16 and an OB16 on it, panel came from the integrator and I'm the guy on nights trying to get it running.
everything in the tree is green, no faults anywhere, but the inputs stay 0 in the tag even with 24VDC straight off the supply on the terminal, and the outputs go to 1 in the tag with 0VDC at the terminal. so I rang the wiring out twice and reseated all three cards, no difference either way.
feels like it's all there and just not switched on lol. is there a bit I have to set somewhere on the 5069 to actually enable the IO, or am I missing something obvious?
Not sure without seeing it, but what's on the two power connectors on the controller itself, the ones on the bottom? We had one wired and the other one empty on our first 5380. Photo of the controller's connectors would say it.
Do the 5069 modules have separate power for the field side? On the Micro820 I've been learning on it's all one supply.
there's two plugs, MOD and SA. MOD has 24VDC on it. SA plug is empty, no wires at all. I figured that was for something optional. it's not is it.
It's not optional. MOD power runs the controller and the backplane, that's why everything is green and talking. SA power is the 24V for the field side of the I/O, the inputs and outputs are fed from that bus through the module bases. Nothing on SA, no input ever sees anything, no output ever drives. Land 24V and common on the SA connector on the L306ER, the same supply is fine for three cards. If the rack grows, check the SA budget in the selection guide, a 5069-FPD starts a new SA bus. What changed since it last worked is easy here, it never did. wired the SA plug, 24VDC and 0VDC from the same supply as MOD, powered up. every input I rang out yesterday came alive, outputs drive. labeler cycled by 4am.
so the whole thing was two wires. integrator landed MOD and never put anything on SA, and nothing on the field side sees 24VDC without it.
what I don't get is how the panel passed their FAT with nothing on SA. maybe they only tested with the tree going green. asking them monday.

Tree green means backplane green. Nothing else. Same lesson we learned.
