Replaced a DeviceNet valve manifold on the case conveyor sorter last night, 1756-DNB in a 1756-L61 rack. Old manifold had a cracked comm board, the new one is the same part number from the same vendor.
Scanner display is cycling E78 N05. The manifold has 24V and its network LED is solid green, the other 11 nodes are all fine and nothing else changed. We power cycled the manifold and the scanner and swapped the drop cable back for the old one, same E78 N05.
I've done plenty of these in RSNetWorx over the years, but usually with the same node swapped straight across. Is the scanlist out of date for the new revision, or am I missing something obvious?
E78 is the scanner saying node 5 didn't answer, nothing about a scanlist mismatch, that would be a different number if I remember right. Before you touch RSNetWorx: what node address is the new manifold actually on? Rotary switches or software set? A new one out of the box is 63.
We got bit by that exact thing on the sorter here. Little rotary dials under the cover, ours were sitting at 6 and 3.
Dials under the cover say 63. Old one, dug out of the scrap bin, says 05. Should have looked under the lid first. Pretty sure I just set it to 05 and power cycle, but do I need to do anything in RSNetWorx?
Set the dials to 05, kill power to the manifold, bring it back. Node address is read at power up on most of them, not live. Nothing in RSNetWorx needed, the scanlist entry for node 5 is still there with the same identity, and the new one is the same part so the keying passes. If the dials had been on 99 or it was a software set unit you'd use Node Commissioning in RSNetWorx over the network instead. Watch the scanner display, it flips from E78 to the node numbers cycling normally. Same story on a PLC-5 with a 1771-SDN, some things don't change.
05 on the dials, power cycled the manifold, scanner display went back to cycling the nodes with the rest. Sorter ran all night.
Whole thing was the dials. New manifold shipped at node 63, scanlist wanted node 5, and nothing in the software needed touching.
One thing I haven't sorted is why the vendor packing slip says preconfigured for your site on it. Going to ask them what that meant.

Preconfigured means someone put the label on. Ours came the same way.
