Added a 1734 IB8 on the end of the case erector Point I/O rack for two new photo eyes, so the 1734-AENT is up to eight modules now. Downloaded, and the whole rack is faulted, yellow triangle on every module, and the AENT's connection tab says something about chassis size, 16#0009 I think.
We reseated all of them and power cycled the rack twice, no change. Pull the IB8 back out of the tree and download and the rack comes up fine, put it back and it faults again.
Does the AENT need a firmware update before it'll take an eighth module, or am I missing something obvious?
No firmware. Open the AENT in the tree, Module Properties, General tab. What does Chassis Size say?

Eight plus the adapter is nine. The adapter counts.
Hannah has it. Chassis Size on a 1734 is modules plus the adapter itself, so 9 for you, and 8 was right when you had 7 modules. Set it to 9 in Module Properties and download. If the AENT still won't come up, the adapter keeps its own copy of the count and you have to tell it: online with the adapter, Module Properties, Module Info tab if I remember right, Set Chassis Size button, press it, power cycle the rack. The 0009 is the adapter rejecting the config because the count doesn't match what it has stored.

Set it to 9, downloaded, still faulted. Went online with the adapter, Module Info tab, pressed Set Chassis Size, power cycled the rack. All eight modules green, photo eyes work.
So chassis size counts the adapter. I had 8 with eight modules, and the AENT keeps its own copy that wanted the button press on top. 9 in the properties, Set Chassis Size on the adapter, done.
Which means the old count in the adapter was 8, right for 7 modules, so the previous guy pressed that button once and never wrote it down. Same as always here. Thanks billr and hannah.
