Added a PowerFlex 525 for a new infeed conveyor. Controller is a 5069 L320ER, Studio 5000 v33. I copied how the other four drives are done in the I/O tree, same module, same revision, and the drive comes up green in the tree with no yellow triangle and I can see the status tag updating so I thought that was that.
I write the start bit in the output tag, the LogicCommand Start, and nothing happens. Speed reference goes in too. Press start on the drive keypad and it runs away happily. I've deleted the drive out of the tree and added it back, and power cycled it, no difference.
Is the connection not really made even though the tree says green? The status tag's updating so something is getting through, so any ideas where I should be looking on the drive side?
Green means the connection is fine, the tree isn't it. The drive's running from the keypad because it's been told to. On the drive keypad read P046 and P047 and post the numbers.
P046 is 1. P047 is 1. Not sure what either of those does, sorry.
P046 is Start Source 1 and P047 is Speed Reference 1, and neither of yours is pointed at the network. Both want the EtherNet/IP entry. The two lists aren't the same, so the number isn't the same in both, take them off the parameter list in 520-UM001 for your firmware rather than off me. Copying the module in the tree does nothing to the parameters inside the drive.
After that, the start bit is an edge on the 525, not a level. Pulse it. And the frequency command is in hundredths of a hertz if I remember right, so 60 Hz goes in as 6000.
The start source and speed reference bit is written up here: https://plctr.com/utilizing-plc-for-motor-control-and-drive-systems/
Looked them up in the manual, P046 to 5 and P047 to 15, both the EtherNet/IP entries. Drive now starts from the PLC. But it's running at about 0.6 Hz. I'm writing 60 into the frequency command and the display shows 0.60.
Write 6000. It's in hundredths of a hertz.
Running at 60 now, conveyor's at line speed.
Both parameters were still sat where the drive left the factory, and copying the module in the tree never touched them. P046 to 5, P047 to 15, and 6000 in the frequency command because it counts in hundredths.
There's also P048 to P051 for start source 2 and 3 and their speed refs. I left those alone and I don't know what would pick them.
Thanks priya87, vinnie86.
Source 2 and 3 only matter if a digital input selects them. Leave them.
