Hello everyone, plant lost power for about forty minutes Sunday. Came in Monday and the extruder line controller, a 1756 L61 in a 7 slot chassis, has its OK LED solid red and RUN off. Go online and it asks to download, says there's no project in the controller. The tree is empty.
Electricians on days say the BAT LED had been red for weeks and nobody wrote it up. We power cycled the chassis, reseated the L61, moved it to another slot, all the same, and the March backup downloads and runs, so the hardware's alive.
What I can't work out is why it lost everything. Boss wants to order a new L61 today and I'd rather know first. Could someone explain whether a flat battery on its own empties the whole thing like that, or is the L61 gone as well?
BAT LED red for weeks and then a power loss. That's your whole answer, but tell me: is there a 1756-BA1 in the front door of that L61, and when was it last changed? The L6x keeps the project in RAM, the battery is the only thing holding it when the chassis is off.
Check the chassis PSU LED anyway while you're in there. But it's the battery.

Battery is a BA1, date on the label says 2016. So no, never changed. PSU LED green, all fine. Ordering a battery. Do I need to do anything else after I put it in?
Nothing clever. New BA1 in the door with the chassis powered up, and the March download stays put. Then two things. Put the battery on the HMI: GSV FaultLog, MinorFaultBits, bit 10 is the battery minor fault if I remember right, so the operators see it instead of a red LED behind a door. And put it on the PM rounds, the BA1 is a two or three year part. The reason nobody remembered is the L7x and L8x next to it have the ESM instead of a battery. The L61 is the only one on your floor that still cares.
Battery in this morning. BAT LED off, OK green, running on the March file.
So a flat BA1 from 2016 and an L61 that holds the program in RAM. Forty minutes without power and it was gone. New battery, March download back in, and the minor fault bit is on the extruder overview screen now, that was ten minutes.
The bit that worries me: March is the newest backup anyone can find and there was at least one change in June for a new die. Trying to find whose laptop that was. And the new L61 is not getting ordered.
